    What to expect

    Ovarian Hyperstimulation, OHSS Warning

    • •Mild bloating is normal, but watch for rapid weight gain, >2 lbs/day
    • •If your abdomen becomes very distended and painful, call immediately
    • •Decreased urination is a warning sign. Track your fluid intake and output.
    • •Shortness of breath or chest pain requires immediate medical attention

    Egg Freezing recovery, day by day

    Day 0

    Procedure Day

    • Rest for the remainder of the day. You may feel bloated and crampy.
    • Apply a heating pad to your abdomen for comfort
    • Follow the personalized medication schedule from your procedure team and prescribing clinician. Contact them before making any medication changes.
    • Your ovaries are enlarged. Avoid twisting, jumping, or vigorous movement.
    Days 1-5

    Recovery

    • Bloating will peak at 2-3 days then gradually improve
    • Drink electrolyte-rich fluids, Gatorade, coconut water. Aim for 80+ oz.
    • Eat salty, high-protein foods to help with bloating
    • Constipation is common. Use stool softener if needed.
    Days 6-14

    Follow-Up

    • Your period should come within 7-14 days, unless doing a fresh transfer
    • Resume normal exercise once bloating resolves and you feel well
    • Plan for next cycle if applicable

    When to call your provider or 911

    • •Call your care team today if you notice: Severe abdominal pain, distension, or rapid weight gain, OHSS
    • •Call 911 now if you notice: Difficulty breathing or chest pain
    • •Call your care team today if you notice: Fever above 101°F
    • •Call your care team today if you notice: Severe nausea/vomiting preventing fluid intake
    • •Call your care team today if you notice: Decreased urination despite drinking fluids
    • •Call 911 now if you notice: Dizziness or fainting

    When in doubt, call your clinic. For a medical emergency, call 911.
